This 30-gauge copper wire assortment is a must-have if you’re doing fine electronics, LEDs, or low-amperage circuits on a layout. It’s solid copper wire, which is exactly what you want for clean, predictable connections. I use 30-gauge constantly for lighting, individual lamps, LEDs, and small control circuits. It’s thin enough to hide easily, but still strong enough to hold its shape and stay where you put it. This wire works perfectly with the manual wire-twisting tool. Twist the connection, add a tiny drop of JB Product Super Weld, cure it, and you’ve got a permanent, solderless connection that’s fast, clean, and reliable. For small wiring jobs, that combination is hard to beat. When you click the link, it takes you directly to Amazon, where you’ll pay the regular price. I do earn a small commission on qualifying purchases, but it doesn’t affect your cost in any way. For lighting specifically, 30-gauge wire has more than enough capacity. One run can comfortably handle 50 or more standard LEDs, making it ideal for distributed lighting systems across a layout. When used with our connector pins and terminal blocks, this wire makes wiring your lighting layout straightforward and organized, without bulky cables or oversized wire getting in the way. If you’re doing detailed electronics or lighting work, this is one of those basic supplies you’ll reach for again and again.
Trackside Signal Bungalow with Integrated AC Voltmeter O-Gauge Layout Voltage Monitor and Bus Cover LED lighting and modern electronics require stable voltage, but checking voltage at the transformer doesn’t tell you what’s actually happening out on the layout. Wire runs, connections, and changing loads all affect voltage before power ever reaches lights or accessories. This trackside signal bungalow provides a simple, unobtrusive way to monitor AC voltage on the layout itself, exactly where it matters. The enclosure is modeled after the steel signal and equipment shelters used by real railroads to house electronics along the right-of-way. Inside is a built-in AC voltmeter that continuously displays layout voltage while blending naturally into a modern railroad scene. From normal viewing angles it simply looks like a piece of trackside infrastructure. Most visitors won’t realize it’s a working meter unless you point it out. Function Continuously monitors AC voltage on the layout Intended for connection ahead of rectifiers feeding LED circuits Allows quick visual confirmation of voltage stability Useful for identifying voltage drop, overloads, or inconsistent power delivery Eliminates the need for handheld meters during normal operation In the photos, the unit is shown connected directly to a layout table bus. This is the intended installation point, allowing you to monitor the same voltage your accessories and lighting actually see. Dual-purpose design In addition to voltage monitoring, the bungalow also serves as a concealed cover for a bus terminal block. Mounted over a terminal block tied into the table bus, it: Hides wiring connections from view Keeps the layout surface clean and uncluttered Provides a convenient distribution point for feeding nearby accessories This allows the structure to perform two jobs at once: Display real-time track voltage Disguise and protect a power distribution connection Both functions are consistent with how real railroads use trackside equipment shelters. Installation Designed to connect directly to an AC layout power bus Compatible with terminal blocks mounted beneath the structure Uses quick-connect wiring for easy removal or relocation No modification to transformer required Basic wiring skills are all that’s required. Construction O-scale trackside signal / equipment shelter 3D-printed heavy-wall PLA enclosure Integrated panel-mount AC voltmeter Compact footprint suitable for right-of-way placement Ideal for layouts using LED lighting Rectified DC accessory circuits Distributed power buses Terminal block–based wiring Summary This is a practical electrical monitoring tool disguised as a realistic piece of railroad infrastructure. It provides continuous voltage visibility while also concealing a layout power distribution point, keeping both wiring and test equipment out of sight. Installed once, it quietly does its job without drawing attention to itself — exactly the way real railroad equipment does.

This is a 1:48 (O gauge) pad-mount electrical transformer with matching transformer pad, designed as a realistic utility detail for layouts, dioramas, or display shelves. Both the transformer and the pad are hollowed out. The transformer sits on the pad, and together they provide a surprising amount of interior space. The pad and the transformer are separate pieces and are printed in different colors for a more realistic look. This piece was designed to look right at home next to track, streets, industrial buildings, or yards. It has the proportions and feel of a real pad-mounted utility transformer, scaled correctly for O gauge. Details • Scale: 1:48 (O Gauge) • Transformer and pad are separate pieces • Both pieces are hollow • Made in the USA • Printed in durable plastic • Realistic utility appearance • Great for layouts, dioramas, or display Reason This Exists This wasn’t designed just as scenery. I needed a discreet place on my layout to hide table bus connector blocks and wiring. A pad-mounted transformer made perfect sense — that’s exactly the kind of thing you’d expect to see hiding electrical connections in the real world. The result is something that looks authentic while serving a practical purpose. It’s decorative and functional at the same time. Whether you want it purely as a realistic layout detail or as a clever way to conceal wiring and connections, it does both jobs well. Shipping & Notes Item will be carefully packed. Listing is for the transformer and pad only; wiring or connectors shown or implied are not included. Combined shipping available. Buy $50 or more and shipping is free.
