This is a soldier pile retaining wall, modeled after the real-world construction method where steel I-beams are driven vertically into the ground and heavy timber planks are stacked between them to retain soil and stabilize grade changes. In full scale, each section represents 12 feet wide by 12 feet high. The wall shown consists of three connected sections, representing a total length of 36 feet. In the model, each section measures 3 inches by 3 inches, making it well suited for O scale layouts, industrial scenes, rail cuts, and urban environments. The I-beams are 3D printed, providing consistent shape, sharp edges, and accurate spacing. The wood planks are individual pieces, just like the prototype, allowing you to stain, paint, or weather them to match anything from new construction to a heavily aged retaining wall. Because the wall is built from separate components rather than a single molded piece, it has real depth and structure instead of a flat or βsheetβ appearance. This style of retaining wall is commonly seen along: railroad cuts and embankments industrial yards and loading areas hillside scenes and grade transitions urban construction and back-of-house areas Installation tip: During assembly, a small drop of UV-reactive super glue placed inside the I-beam channel works extremely well. The glue is hidden once the plank is seated, so it does not show on the finished wall. A quick pass with a UV light sets the joint almost instantly, making alignment easy and eliminating clamp or dry time. The modular design allows sections to be used individually or combined to create longer retaining walls as needed. Combined shipping available. Buy $50 or more and shipping is free.
Thereβs something about a cluster of traffic cones that instantly tells a story on an O-gauge layout, and these do exactly that. This is a true 1:48 O-gauge scale set of traffic cones, each one individually modeled β not a soft, blobby one-piece casting. Every cone has crisp edges, clean taper, and a properly proportioned base so they actually look like real cones instead of toy stand-ins. When theyβre grouped together, you get that familiar roadside or work-zone look that immediately makes a scene feel active and believable. The shape and proportions are spot-on, and the surface finish is clean enough that they look good straight off the printer, but they also take paint well if you want to add reflective bands or weathering. Scattered along a street, around track work, near a crossing, or by a maintenance area, they add that subtle realism that makes people take a second look. I originally printed a set for my own layout to dress up a work area, and once they were in place, it was obvious how much they added. Theyβre simple objects, but when theyβre done right, they quietly elevate the entire scene. If you care about scale accuracy, clean detail, and accessories that look right without drawing attention to themselves, these traffic cones are exactly that kind of finishing touch. Hereβs a revised description in the same voice, tailored to the five yellow fire hydrants, and written so itβs clear youβre a fellow layout guy, not a reseller flipping junk: Thereβs something about a row of fire hydrants that immediately grounds a scene on an O-gauge layout, and these do exactly that. This is a set of five true 1:48 O-gauge scale fire hydrants, each one individually modeled with proper proportions and crisp detail. Theyβre not oversized, cartoonish stand-ins β they look like real municipal hydrants scaled down the right way. The domed tops, side outlets, and base flanges are all there, cleanly defined so light and shadow do some of the work instead of everything blending together. The reason these exist at all is pretty simple: I needed hydrants for my own layout and couldnβt find anything I liked anywhere else. Everything I ran across was either out of scale, poorly detailed, or just not right. So I made my own. Once they were printed and in place, it was obvious they belonged, and it made sense to make a few extra for anyone else whoβs been looking for the same thing. Theyβre the kind of detail that works almost anywhere β along a street, near a crossing, by a factory, or tucked into a residential area. Subtle, realistic, and sized correctly, they add life without stealing attention from the trains. These are the same hydrants Iβm using on my own O-gauge layout. Iβm not reselling someone elseβs parts β Iβm making them because I needed them, and figured if I couldnβt find them, others probably couldnβt either. If you care about scale accuracy, clean detail, and layout accessories that look like they belong there, these hydrants fit right in.
Cinder Streets Asphalt Road Sections β Set of 5 O Gauge & S Gauge Compatible This listing is for a set of five Cinder Streets asphalt road sections designed to create realistic streets that fit correctly on both O gauge and S gauge model railroad layouts. Each road section measures 125mm x 250mm (approximately 5\" x 10\"), which scales to roughly a 20-foot-wide by 40-foot-long section of roadway. Used end-to-end, the five pieces create about 200 feet of street length at a realistic 20-foot roadway width. The surface has the look and subtle texture of real asphalt β not smooth, not glossy β so it blends naturally into town streets, industrial districts, and railroad crossing scenes. These road sections are fully compatible with Lionel and American Flyer grade crossings and are dimensioned to line up properly in both O gauge and S gauge layouts. They work seamlessly with Cinder Streets grade crossings and street accessories for clean, realistic transitions. One of the biggest advantages is the ultra-thin profile. Each section is only 0.4mm thick, allowing smooth grade changes and natural transitions into track, crossings, and surrounding scenery without the unrealistic βstep-upβ found with thicker road materials. The material is thin and flexible enough to cut cleanly with ordinary scissors, making it easy to custom-fit around buildings, angles, and odd spaces. No special tools required. Optional matching sidewalk and curb sections are available separately and are shown in photos for layout examples. The sidewalk system uses realistic 4-foot sidewalk panels with a standard curb profile, designed to line up cleanly with these road sections for a finished street scene. Riverside βRaincrossβ Streetlight Kit β O Gauge By Cinder Shops This listing is for an O-gauge streetlight kit inspired by Riverside, Californiaβs iconic Raincross streetlights. The Raincross is a long-standing civic symbol of Riverside, and the streetlights that feature it are a very distinctive and memorable design β truly one of a kind and unique to Riverside. These lights are instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with the city and are unlike streetlight designs used anywhere else in the country. Theyβre especially well suited for vintage, postwar, and mid-century street scenes and look right at home alongside Cinder Streets roads and sidewalks. This is a kit, but one of the more difficult steps is already done for you. The wiring is pre-routed through the lamp head, so assembly is straightforward. Whatβs included: Raincross-style streetlight kit (O gauge) Micro LED (included) Resistor (included) Wiring pre-installed through the lamp head Assembly required (super glue needed) The included resistor is set up for a standard 12-volt layout streetlight application. The LED itself can be used with other voltages as well β youβll simply need to use the appropriate resistor value for your setup. Optional base available: Optional base and transformer available separately Allows the light to be used as a desk light or nightlight Plugs directly into standard household power when used with the base Why these are special to me: Before making model streetlights, I worked as an electrical contractor and was directly involved with the installation of these Raincross streetlights for the City of Riverside, including along the Mission Viaduct. That firsthand experience with the real fixtures is what led me to recreate them accurately for my own layout β and ultimately to offer them here. Notes: Streetlight kit includes micro LED and resistor as described Roads, sidewalks, bases, and other layout items shown are for example only and are sold separately
This listing is for an O-gauge streetlight kit inspired by the historic single-pole, single-head streetlights of Redlands, California β a design that dates all the way back to 1893, when electricity was first introduced to downtown Redlands. According to early newspaper accounts, these lights were among the cityβs first electric streetlights, marking a major turning point in Redlandsβ transition into the modern era. More than a century later, many of these same distinctive lights are still standing in Redlandsβ historic neighborhoods, making them one of the cityβs most recognizable and enduring civic details. The design is simple, elegant, and unmistakably historic. A single pole, a single lamp head, and proportions that feel right for the late 19th and early 20th century. If youβre modeling a vintage town, an early electric era, or a classic Southern California streetscape, this light instantly places the scene in the right time period. The proportions are correctly scaled for O gauge and pair especially well with Cinder Streets roads and sidewalks, as well as other vintage street and town accessories. This is a kit, but itβs designed to be easy to assemble. The wiring is pre-routed through the lamp head, so youβre not fighting tiny parts or threading wires through tight spaces. Whatβs included: Historic Redlands-style single-head streetlight kit (O gauge) Micro LED (included) Resistor (included) Wiring pre-installed through the lamp head Assembly required (super glue needed) The included resistor is sized for a standard 12-volt layout streetlight application. The LED can be used on other voltages as well by substituting the appropriate resistor value if needed. Optional base available: Optional base and transformer available separately Allows the streetlight to be used as a desk light or nightlight Plugs directly into standard household power when used with the base These streetlights are a defining visual element of Redlands and one of the cityβs most iconic pieces of street furniture. Adding them to a layout isnβt just adding lighting β itβs adding a sense of place, history, and continuity that goes back to the very beginnings of electric street lighting in California. Notes: Streetlight kit includes micro LED and resistor as described Roads, sidewalks, bases, and other layout items shown are for example only and are sold separately are for example only and are sold separately
Vintage Wooden Street Signpost β O Gauge Custom Street Names | 1940sβ1950s Style By Cinder Shops This listing is for a realistic O-gauge wooden street signpost modeled after the simple 4x4 street signs commonly used in American towns during the 1940s and 1950s. A plain wooden post set in the ground with the street name stenciled directly on the side β no metal signs, no brackets, just the way streets were marked before modern signage took over. These wooden posts were phased out in the early-to-mid 1960s, making them a perfect fit for postwar and vintage layouts. They look especially right alongside postwar Lionel trains and classic town scenes. The proportions are properly scaled for O gauge and are designed to look correct on Cinder Streets layouts, matching street widths, sidewalks, and overall scene scale. Features: Vintage 1940sβ1950s wooden street sign design Simple 4x4 post style used before modern metal signs O-gauge scale Correctly proportioned for Cinder Streets layouts Ideal for postwar, vintage, and old-time town scenes Custom street names: Choose any street name or combination up to 18 characters Example shown: βHollywood & Vineβ (for illustration only) Perfect for hometown streets, historic intersections, or meaningful locations Whatβs included: One (1) blank O-gauge wooden street signpost Three (3) identical label sets for each street name you choose Three label sets are included intentionally. Anyone who has built models knows how easy it is to mess up a decal. This gives you extras so one small mistake doesnβt mean starting over. If you ever need additional labels, simply send your order number and the street name(s) in a self-addressed stamped envelope, and additional stickers will be sent. Street signpost and custom labels included. Roads, sidewalks, buildings, and other layout items shown in photos are for example purposes only and are sold separately.
Sanchem 10222 NO-OX-ID A-Special β 2oz Jar Model train track treatment β Lionel, American Flyer, HO & O gauge NO-OX-ID A-Special is a professional-grade electrical contact compound widely used by model railroaders to reduce rail oxidation, stalling, and intermittent electrical pickup. This is not an abrasive track cleaner or solvent. It is a preventative treatment designed to keep oxidation from forming after track has been cleaned. Model railroaders running Lionel O gauge, American Flyer S gauge, and HO layouts commonly use NO-OX-ID to improve electrical reliability, especially at slow speeds, turnouts, and other problem areas where oxidation causes hesitation or power dropouts. Why model railroaders use NO-OX-ID β’ Helps prevent rail oxidation and electrical resistance β’ Reduces stalling, flickering lights, and sound dropouts β’ Improves electrical contact between rails and wheels β’ Long-lasting treatment β only a tiny amount is needed β’ Suitable for Lionel, American Flyer, HO, and O gauge track systems Application tip (important) The trick to using NO-OX-ID is using very little. Rub a small amount onto clean rail. If you can see it, thereβs too much. Most users apply it, run trains to distribute it, then wipe off any visible residue. Whatβs left is a microscopic film that does the work. Track pin bonus NO-OX-ID also works very well on track pins. A light wipe on the pins helps lubricate them so track sections go together more easily, and many users find it also improves electrical conductivity at the rail joints. This can be especially helpful on older track where pin connections are a common source of voltage drop. A 2oz jar goes a very long way and can last for years on a typical layout. This is the genuine Sanchem NO-OX-ID A-Special (10222), made in the USA and used for decades in electrical and industrial applications to prevent corrosion and resistance at contact points. Product details β’ Brand: Sanchem β’ Product: NO-OX-ID A-Special β’ Size: 2 oz jar β’ Condition: New β’ Lot number: L240-22-21 β’ Expiration date: February 22, 2034 β’ Made in USA Compatible with layouts and equipment from Lionel, American Flyer, and other HO / O / S gauge systems. Usage note Use sparingly. Excess product may reduce traction if over-applied, especially on grades.
Cinder Streets 1950s Curb & Sidewalk Sections β Set of 6 O Gauge & S Gauge Compatible β True 1:48 Scale This listing is for a set of six Cinder Streets curb and sidewalk sections designed to match perfectly with our Cinder Streets asphalt road panels. These represent sidewalks the way they were built in the 1940s and 1950s β poured one square at a time, by hand, long before wheelchair ramps, engineered radiuses, and machine-laid continuous pours became standard. Each section measures 125mm x 250mm (approximately 5\" x 10\"), matching the exact length of our road sections so everything lines up cleanly and proportionally at true 1:48 scale. Coverage Options: β’ Six sections will match three road sections if youβre running sidewalks on both sides of the street. β’ Or the full six sections will align with six road sections if youβre building sidewalk on just one side. That flexibility lets you build anything from a small-town Main Street to a half-developed industrial block. The realism is in the details. The concrete surface is intentionally not perfect. It has subtle texture and slight variation, just like real mid-century poured concrete. The expansion joints are slightly uneven from square to square because crews formed and poured each panel individually. Some joints are a hair off. Some panels vary slightly in finish. Thatβs not a flaw β thatβs how it was done in 1955. The curb profile reflects the era as well β straight vertical face, simple top edge, no ADA ramps, no flared corners, no modern transitions. Just clean, honest municipal concrete. These sections sit flush against Cinder Streets asphalt panels, creating proper curb-to-road alignment at a realistic 1:48 proportion. When installed alongside the road sections, the street scene immediately looks balanced and believable. Like the road panels, these are ultra-thin and low-profile, allowing smooth transitions into scenery, track areas, crossings, and building foundations without an unrealistic step-up. They can be trimmed easily with ordinary scissors to fit corners, storefronts, alleys, and irregular spaces. Ideal for: β’ 1950s downtown business districts β’ Residential neighborhoods β’ Industrial streets β’ Depot and railroad crossing scenes β’ Small-town storefront blocks Key Features: Set of 6 curb & sidewalk sections Each section: 125mm x 250mm (approx. 5\" x 10\") True 1:48 proportional scaling Flexible layout coverage (both sides or single side build) Authentic 1950s hand-poured concrete appearance Subtle texture with slightly uneven expansion joints Era-correct curb profile (pre-ADA design) Designed to match Cinder Streets asphalt road sections Ultra-thin profile for smooth transitions Lays nearly flush with track and scenery Easy to trim with scissors for custom installations Compatible with O gauge and S gauge layouts Included in this listing: Six (6) Cinder Streets 1950s curb & sidewalk sections If youβre building a layout set in the golden age of American towns β signal lights hanging from cables, corner drugstores, concrete poured square by square β this is the detail that makes the street scene feel authentic instead of manufactured.
